Kawaguchi-ko (Lake Kawaguchi), positioned at the northernmost point of the Fuji Five Lakes, lies directly north of Mount Fuji, providing a perfectly symmetrical view of the mountain’s magnificent ridgeline from its shores. From the lake’s northern side, Mount Fuji reveals itself as a solitary peak in its most iconic form. The lake area captivates visitors throughout the seasons: cherry blossoms paint the scene in spring, lavender colors the lakeshore in summer, and autumn leaves add their vibrant hues, all serving as stunning foregrounds to Mount Fuji’s towering presence.
Getting there: About 20 minutes by car from Yamanakako IC on Higashi-Fujigoko Road. Parking available.
Note: Winter tires required during winter season.
