Yabakei, a picturesque gorge in Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture, is renowned for its unique landscape of oddly-shaped rocks and sheer cliffs.
The “Blue Cave Tunnel,” hand-carved by the monk Zenkai in the Edo period, stands as a testament to human perseverance, ingenuity and also, a historic tunnel that supports community safety.
