Mitarai Gorge in Tenkawa Village mesmerizes visitors throughout the seasons: spring’s dazzling fresh greenery, summer’s vibrant Satsuki azaleas flourishing along the riverbank, and autumn’s magnificent foliage.
In fall, trees painted in reds and yellows adorn the gorge, their colors mirrored in the crystal-clear stream below, creating an ethereal atmosphere.
The echoing sounds of flowing water fill this healing space, where uniquely shaped rocks, sculpted by nature’s hand, punctuate the landscape, enhancing its mystical beauty.
Getting there: About 10 minutes by car from Tenkawa Village Information Center. Both paid and free parking available.
Note: National Route 309 leading to Mitarai Rest Area has extremely narrow roads. Please drive with caution.
