Mishakaike Pond is a mystical place where serene nature surrounds a mirror-like water surface reflecting the encompassing forest.
The landscape, reminiscent of Higashiyama Kaii’s (1908-1999, celebrated Japanese painter) masterpiece “Green Resonance,” captures moments when forest and water quietly blend together.
The changing seasons reveal different forms of beauty with each visit, inviting travelers into profound dialogue with nature. This pond truly embodies nature’s quiet breath.
Getting there: About 40 minutes by car from Suwa IC or Minami-Suwa IC on the Chuo Expressway. Parking available. Studless tires and chains essential during winter.
Photographed: Late June 2024, 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM
